ETHANOL RESISTANT PRODUCTS (JDG-105 SERIES) | |
|
Ethanol is a product typically produced by the distillation process involving corn based products or sugar cane products.
Ethanol is added to the gasoline, typically in amounts of 10 percent (E10) or 85 percent for (E85) for "flex-fuel" vehicles.
Ethanol can cause failure of hoses, rubber products, seals, gaskets or plastic products and can lead to metal corrosion. Because of that, JIKOH Mfg., Inc. has introduced its family of Ethanol resistant sightglasses to combat this growing problem as more Ethanol becomes available nationwide.
JIKOH Mfg., Inc. manufacturers a family of Ethanol resistant sightglasses, these include:
JDG-105 - Standard 2" straight, 3" and 4" with bevel on the ID. Ethanol resistant, good optics
JDG-105MP - Standard 4" with bevel on the ID. Ethanol resistant, best optics, resists some fuel additives and solvents.
Typical solvents may include but are not limited to: Naphtha, Benzene, MTBE, Xylene, Toluene, Methanol and various ketones that may be part of additive packages added at the loading rack.
These solvents or additives are typically used to enhance engine performance or reduce exhaust emissions. Some of these solvents or additives may not be available in the United States because of known carcinogens they contain.
It is important that proper testing be done prior to use to determine compatibility with fuel additives and solvents.
