About Our Congregation
Our Saviour’s is a CHURCH FOR ALL PEOPLE! We celebrate our diversity of age, race, gender, sexual orientation, culture and citizenship. Our differences do not divide us; we are united in Christ. You are invited to join us for worship. If you seek information that is not provided on any of these pages, please contact the church office at 612-871-2967.
Founded in 1869 by Norwegian Immigrants, Our Saviour's was originally located in the Seven Corners area of Minneapolis. In 1912, OSLC relocated to 24th and Chicago. While the original constituency of the congregation located to other neighborhoods, the people of OSLC were committed to remaining at 24th and Chicago. The 1912 building was destroyed by fire in December of 1995. On October 22, 2000 the Center for Worship and Outreach (current building) was dedicated on the same site. Our Saviour’s is a member of the Minneapolis Area Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). The Minneapolis Area Synod is comprised of 174 congregations and about 230,000 members in the western metro. The ELCA has about 10,850 congregations and 5.2 million members nationwide.
