Renew . . Renew . . Renew

For the healing of creation, O God, we pray.

With sadness, we remember
When oil was used to honor

"Zadok, the priest took the horn of oil from the sacred tent and anointed Solomon.  Then they sounded the trumpet and all the people shouted, 'Long live King solomon!'" (I Kings 1:39)

We pray for healing of the devastation in the Gulf
We pray for healing in the lives of those affected
We pray that a time will come again
When oil is used only in reverence.

 

Many and Great, O God, are your works, maker of earth and sky.

Lament is one step on a long journey back toward praise.
