The evening began with a reception and silent auction, where guests bid on many wonderful items.

On May 15, 2008, $60,000 was raised at a special event  that brought together 200 friends of Washington's National Park Fund.  Celebrating the reopening of Mount Rainier National Park's historic Paradise Inn, "A Night in Paradise" also focused on important projects in Mount Rainier, North Cascades and Olympic National Parks that these funds will support.
